Power Users'...Keys to Sucess

Sometimes, using a mouse is slower than using the combinations of keys on your keyboard.
This is a list of keystrokes you can use in Windows that can save you time. 
The + sign, means to use a combination of those two keys, pressing and holding the first, while then pressing the second one time. 

Ctrl+RightArrow 
Move cursor one word to the right

Ctrl+LeftArrow 
Move cursor one word to the left

Home
Beginning of line

End
End of line

PageUp
Up one screen

PageDown
Down one screen

Ctrl+PageUp
Top of screen

Ctrl+PageDown
Bottom of screen

Ctrl+Home
Beginning of document 

Ctrl+End
End of document

Ctrl+Backspce 
Delete word to left

Ctrl+Delete
Delete word to right

Ctrl+C
Copy highlighted selection to Clipboard

Ctrl+X
Cut highlighted selection to Clipboard

Ctrl+V
Paste selection from Clipboard 

Ctrl+Z
Undo anything

Ctrl+A
Select All

Shift+up or down arrow
Highlights line(s)

The Mysterious Windows Logo key
WindowsKey+E
Opens Windows Explorer (not to be confused with Internet Explorer)

WindowsKey+F
Opens Windows Find

WindowsKey+M
Minimize All Open Windows (Shift+WindowsKey+M to UNDO) 

WindowsKey+R
Opens the Start - Run Window

WindowsKey+F1
Opens Windows Help

WindowsKey+L
Logs Off Windows

WindowsKey+Tab
Cycles through the Taskbar Buttons

WindowsKey+Pause/Break
Open the System Properties Dialog Box



Want to give up the mouse completely?

Shift+F10
Right-mouse-click selected item

Ctrl+Esc
Display Start menu

Alt+ [the underlined letter in the pulldown menu]
Selects that particular menu command

Alt+Esc
Switch to Taskbar's "next" open window

Alt+Tab
Switch among open windows (hold Alt and continue to press Tab)

Alt+F4
Close Active window

Alt+spacebar, N
Minimize active window

Alt+spacebar, X
Maximize active window

Alt+spacebar, R
Restore active window (to previous size) 

Alt+spacebar, C
Close active window

Ctrl+F10
Switch focus to menu commands (in any Explorer window)

Ctrl+Tab
Rotate through dialog box tabs

Ctrl+Shift+Tab
Rotate through dialog box tabs in reverse



Finally, the most helpful power users’ shortcut of all…

Ctrl+Alt+Del
Displays the “Close Program” dialog box 

While you may consider this to be a poor substitute for an article, I use many of these keyboard commands on a regular basis, and find them to be extremely useful.
