{"id":4217,"date":"2015-01-03T13:13:30","date_gmt":"2015-01-03T20:13:30","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.pdxtc.com\/wpblog\/?p=4217"},"modified":"2015-01-07T09:16:18","modified_gmt":"2015-01-07T16:16:18","slug":"2015-sempdx-hot-seat","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.pdxtc.com\/wpblog\/public-speaking\/2015-sempdx-hot-seat\/","title":{"rendered":"Put a Competitor on the Hot Seat"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On Tuesday evening January 13th, 2015, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm, I&#8217;m going to be on a panel of four local Portland internet marketing experts, where we are going to\u00a0<del>mercilessly rip apart<\/del> strategically analyze various websites that the audience brings for us to review.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to myself, \u00a0we&#8217;ll have three more SEMpdx board members on the panel, \u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/michael512\" target=\"_blank\">Michael Cottam<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/kevingetch\" target=\"_blank\">Kevin Getch<\/a> and \u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/mike_arnesen\" target=\"_blank\">Mike Arnesen<\/a>, and we are committed to being both educational and entertaining.<\/p>\n<h5>Submit a Competitor?!?<\/h5>\n<p>We&#8217;ve done other <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sempdx.org\/sempdx-events\/seo-experts-on-hot-seat\/\" target=\"_blank\">Hot<\/a> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sempdx.org\/sempdx-events\/seo-experts-on-hot-seat\/\" target=\"_blank\">Seats<\/a> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sempdx.org\/blog\/events\/sempdx-hot-seat-hot-seat-david-mihm-ranking-in-local-search-algorithms\/\" target=\"_blank\">over<\/a> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sempdx.org\/blog\/events\/october-2008-hot-seat-back-to-basics-search-engine-optimization\/\" target=\"_blank\">the<\/a> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sempdx.org\/blog\/announcements\/vanessa-fox-presentation-sem-hot-seat\/\" target=\"_blank\">years<\/a>, but there&#8217;s always been an additional fee to get \u00a0a site reviewed, and the review is\u00a0usually limited to the on-page and off page ranking factors of that particular site.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;ve participated in other site review sessions too, but invariably, the common denominator is that the site owner is the one having their site reviewed.<\/p>\n<p>This time, however, ALL\u00a0attendees are invited to submit sites, and they don&#8217;t have to be &#8220;owned&#8221; by the attendee. Attendees can\u00a0can submit any site they\u00a0wish for any reason, with no proof of ownership required.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Want to know if a particular\u00a0domain has been penalized? \u00a0Submit the site.<\/li>\n<li>Want to know why a certain website outranks another?
