Change the default mouse cursor on a computer to an hourglass, and chuckle silently watching your spouse or coworker reboot the computer over and over.

Better yet, they may just stare at the screen continuing to “wait” which is what the hourglass in windows means.

If they try it, they’ll see that everything still functions normally, but they probably won’t catch that. If they do, they’ll still be puzzled for a long time, perhaps even searching the web for a solution.

  1. Go to the Windows control panel (Start > Control Panel )
  2. Choose the Mouse icon
  3. Go to the Pointers tab
  4. Highlight “Normal Select ” and hit “browse” button
  5. Browse for the busy_ file that looks like your regular hourglass (named busy_m.cur or whichever looks most like your regular “busy” icon.
  6. Selcect it and press the “Open” button
  7. Hit apply & OK
  8. yuk yuk yuk

I have to run, my wife is yelling for me. ;)
