Instead of spending money on the annual Christmas party, members of the Oregon Computer Consultants Association have voted to donate the money to a local 501(c)(3) charity that we all know and support, called Free Geek.

In the five years they’ve been around, Free Geek has recycled over 360 tons of electronic scrap and refurbished over 3,000 computer systems that are now in use by individuals and organizations in Portland. Visit their website at http://www.freegeek.org

wow, that is just stunning. We geeks are very thankful for your gift. Let your friends know that anyone can earn a computer, learn how to build computers and install linux, or just earn a 50% discount at our wicked-awesome Thrift Store by volunteering some. Come in for a tour (which i often give and are totally sweet). Tours are at noon and 6pm, Tue – Sat

    thanks again for your help,

    revphil

ps We hope to see you all at our Geek Prom coming up this Spring! Maybe we will have a battle-of-the-office-parties dance off!

Hey, you’re welcome Revphil. Be sure to keep us in the loop on your prom. By the way, I now have the check in my hands for Free Geeek. I’ll be bringing it by on Wednesday morning this week…
