One of the sessions at Danny Sullivan’s Advanced SMX show involved a panel of experts all sharing one “secret tactic” or other helpful search tip that they might use, and would recommend. The cool thing about it was that Danny put a moratorium on all blog posts about the session for 30 days, and all but threatened bodily harm to any blogger that broke the silence. |

Jim Boykins Internet marketing blog has a great article about getting your pages out of the supplemental index using your own internal linking structure. In the article, he gives the mathematical formula for Google PageRank -

Someone sent me a link to this post, and I found it extremely interesting. According to the article, Google is following and factoring “no followed” links for ranking purposes. Back in November, “no follow” was given the white stamp of approval by Matt Cutts, and I heard him say with my own ears that Google will not follow them, or assign any Page Rank either. |

A search engine consultant these days needs to know a lot more than the basic SEO tactics they may have learned over the years. They really need to know how to efficiently navigate Google’s Webmaster Central, and make good use of the tools they have provided. |

Someone e-mailed me today, asking me what Stompernet really is, besides another Seo forum and a lot of hype about making millions. Since I had a post half completed that I started two months ago, I figured I would answer here… |

Search engine marketing and optimization are pretty hot subjects, and I frequently get asked for recommendations where someone can learn the skills they need at an accelerated pace. For my own needs, I first attended John Alexander and Robin Nobles’ search engine workshops back in 2004, and was extremely happy with what I learned in the progress I made. |

Today is the day that the one dollar trial offer for Stomper simple goes into effect. Earlier in the month, I posted about Stompernet having its reopening, but this is a pretty incredible offer. Andy Jenkins and Brad Fallon have created something called Stomper Simple and for just a dollar, they are giving full access for 30 days. |

Tomorrow nights Portland search engine marketing meeting is in a new location for SEMpdx, and although this was announced a while ago, I thought I would point it out again - Tuesday, May 8 2007 |

Stompernet is one of the most expensive programs on the Web, but it is also one of the best. I’ve been a member all of 2007, and I continue to shell out my money month after month, never ceasing to be amazed at the rich flow of information both from faculty and from other members. |

Have you ever seen anyone tie up all three available search slots at the top of Google in the local (Google Maps) results? I hadn’t either… If you search for Portland internet consulting firm on Google, you’ll see my friend Charlie Stanley of Fierce Thought ranking #1, #2 and #3 completely dominating all three Google local maps results. |

At the 2006 Las Vegas Webmaster World I stood up and asked Matt Cutts from Google a question that actually got applause from he crowd. I asked “Why do we have to lose rankings for so long if we change domain names, and might the Google Webmaster Tools team be working on a way to minimize our pain?”. |

Sitting at a table in the bar after a recent SEMpdx meeting, a member (Garry Egan) stated that he could get a site indexed by all three search engines in 36 hours, and even ranking for a non-competitive term or two. |
