If you are attending tomorrow night’s Hot Seat website review session that I’m moderating for SEMpdx, then please be sure to note that the location is not in the usual place, the Hotel deLuxe. Instead it will be at the Portland Ecotrust building, located at 721 NW Ninth Avenue Portland, OR 97209 - Here is a map |

I began working on my new website for Search Commander back in 2006. It was always a lower priority than anything else I had to do, so all I ever did was a 301 redirect for searchcommander.com to my old domain, pdxtc.com, and I assumed I would get back to it someday soon. |

Search engine marketing and optimization are pretty hot subjects, and I frequently get asked for recommendations where someone can learn the skills they need at an accelerated pace. For my own needs, I first attended John Alexander and Robin Nobles’ search engine workshops back in 2004, and was extremely happy with what I learned in the progress I made. |

Tomorrow nights Portland search engine marketing meeting is in a new location for SEMpdx, and although this was announced a while ago, I thought I would point it out again - Tuesday, May 8 2007 |

I’ve finally decided what I’m going to talk about in my portion of SearchFest on March 7th. From 10:45 to Noon, in Miller Hall, at Portland’s World Forestry Center, I’ll be sharing an SEO Basics session with Stanford Davis, of Straight On Internet Consulting. Stan is going to discuss the Top 10 SEO Mistakes he sees, and here’s the description of my session: |

After several plan changes and delays, the SEMpdx website is now up and running live on the Site9 CMS platform. The website is now back on our original domain, SEMpdx.org and it looks pretty good, but we’re going to keep the SEMpdx blog on semportland.com which is running on a customized Wordpress theme. |

The largest search marketing event to ever take place in Oregon is coming next month, called Searchfest, and it’s going to be good. I’m on the events committee for SEMpdx, and we’re in the process of finalizing all the plans right now. The speaker and presenter schedules are almost ready to make public, and we’re getting final commitments from people outside of the SEMpdx board. |

I just made the blog live for SEMpdx, which is Portland’s first and finest search engine marketing group, for which I am a board member and sponsor. It’s running on a free Wordpress theme that I customized a bit, and I think it looks pretty darn good, if I do say so myself… |

I’m going to fill the speaker slot at next Tuesday’s Oregon Computer Consultants Association meeting, and I’ll likely hang around for questions indefinitely. Below, you’ll see the press release that I just* submitted at PR Web for just $10. Yes, PR Web did not raise their price, contrary to what you may have read. They did however, change their profitability upward with one little site tweak that was quite smart…. |

Search Engine Marketers of Portland (SEMpdx) has announced officially that its first networking event will be held Tuesday, October 24, 2006 at Portland Oregon’s Hotel Deluxe from 5:00 to 7:30 PM. Most of the SEMpdx board members, (including myself), will be on hand to answer questions, and to tell attendees more about varios membership benefits, upcoming events, and sponsorship opportunities over. Appetizers will be provided by Gracie’s, and there will be a no-host bar. |

This year marks the 100th anniversary of the Portland Advertising Federation. On November 16th, all the major local advertising talent will be on hand at this year’s Rosey Awards, celebrating the best campaigns of the year. Local band Dirty Martini will entertain the crowd during the show, and radio personalities Mike Chase and Amy Faust will be the emcees. |

If you are a web hosting customer of ours, this is an urgent wake up call. By the end of 2006, your site may no longer function properly unless you act now. Microsoft has already discontinued Unix server support for Front Page, and Windows hosting support is likely not far behind. |
